We have some very exciting news for vistors to Washington County Hospital's 3rd Annual Health Fair!

Dr. John Newby, the medical director of Hagerstown Medical Laboratory, has worked hard so that FREE cholesterol testing will be available at Washington County’s Health Fair on June 14.

The blood test that will be offered is known as a “Total Cholesterol” test. It is a test that is often requested by physicians to determine their patient’s risk for coronary artery disease.

You have to be eighteen or older to participate. Fasting before the test is not required.
And because this is a blood test, it will require drawing blood so that it can be sent to the lab for testing.

High blood cholesterol has been linked to heart attack and stroke. Experts recommend that you have a complete cholesterol and triglycerides analysis every five years starting at age twenty.

Everyone should know their cholesterol numbers. If they are abnormal, there are many things that you and your doctor can do to get them in the normal range. It will help you minimize the risk of a stroke or heart attack. Total cholesterol is an important measure of both bad and good cholesterol.

Your test results will be mailed to you.

Over ten phlebotomists from Hagerstown Medical Laboratory have volunteered to work that Saturday to help serve the community. So, after you arrive at the fair, get registered….and then walk over to suite 142, where Hagerstown Medical Laboratory’s booth will be located. The number of cholesterol tests that can be performed during the health fair is limited by time and staffing—so stop by Hagerstown Medical Laboratory’s booth early to better assure that you have a cholesterol test performed.
